Dr. Zoe Guzman was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where her passion for both academics and sports took root. She graduated from University High School (UHS) in 2009 before pursuing higher education at Syracuse University. In 2013, Dr. Guzman earned a double major in Anthropology and Forensic Sciences. While at Syracuse, she made history as the first Latina to walk on and play for the Division I volleyball team, later becoming the team captain.
Her journey then took her to Guadalajara, Mexico, where she attended UAG School of Medicine, graduating in 2019. During her time in medical school, she was actively involved with GUIMEDIC, an organization that provides primary medical care to remote and underserved areas of Mexico. This experience deepened her commitment to global healthcare. Dr. Guzman completed her surgical training as part of the inaugural class of Hackensack University Medical Center’s General Surgery Residency in 2024.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Guzman enjoys playing volleyball, watching sports like soccer, American football, beach volleyball, and cycling. Her hobbies include exploring the outdoors, traveling, working out, trying new places to eat, immersing herself in local cultures, and spending time with her family.
